Beginning Friday evening, join the folks for a skating party with music, bonfire and candle-lit cross country skiing. Rideau Cup Sled Dog Race February 20 & 21
3rd Annual Sled Dog Race, Skijoring Race, Kid & Mutt Race and loads of other exciting venues will entertain you in Newboro at the Lock Station starting at 10:00am Saturday morning and 9:00am Sunday. Breakfast is served for racers, participants, volunteers and the general public both mornings in the Community Hall and Saturday night is a fantastic supper, again open to everyone. RIDEAU DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL 50TH ANNIVERSARY MAY 21 – 23
Plans are well underway for the biggest celebration in the history of Rideau District High School as alumni return to Elgin for the school’s 50th Anniversary Reunion. Scheduled for the weekend of May 21st to the 23rd of 2010, alumni will be able to enjoy a wine and cheese party, a chicken barbeque, a re-dedication ceremony featuring an alumni band and choir, a dinner/dance and a host of alumni sporting events. A display of memorabilia celebrating the past 50 years of Rideau’s history will also be on display at the school throughout the weekend. Looking Forward to the Summer ….
Rideau Lakes Day Camp, Summer Swimming Lessons, Rideau Rippers Sport Camp, Tiny Tots Registration will begin in mid April. Don’t disappoint your child - make sure you register well before the deadline – some of these programs filled quickly in 2009 and are bound to be as popular again this season!
Students looking for Summer Employment – Resumes will be accepted any time – but you shouldn’t wait. Make sure the Manager of Community and Leisure Services receives your resume for positions at the Day Camp and as Swimming Instructors / Guards no later than January 15, 2010. Applications for summer positions with the Department of Community and Leisure Services received after this date will not be accepted.

Are you planning on holding a public event, festival and/or parade within the Township of Rideau Lakes? Would your event be involved in having a sale on a roadway or vacant lot? Could your event possibly block traffic? Would there be excessive litter? Are you offering an exhibition held for hire or gain?
Then you need to obtain a Festival License as per By-Law 2007-19. These licenses need to be applied for a minimum of 3 months before your event.
