Congratulatory Scrolls

Is someone you know celebrating a milestone birthday, anniversary or other special event?  Please see the Scrolls page for details on which levels of government provide congratulations.

Planning a Major Special Event?

Are you planning on holding a public event, festival and/or parade within the Township of Rideau Lakes? Would your event be involved in having a sale on a roadway or vacant lot? Could your event possibly block traffic? Would there be excessive litter? Are you offering an exhibition held for hire or gain?

Then you need to obtain a Festival License as per By-Law 2007-19. These licenses need to be obtained a minimum of 2 months before your event from the Clerk.

Completed Festival Licence application forms which should include letters of support from the OPP, Health Unit, Insurance, Fire and Emergency, site plans, etc., and must be received by the Clerk 1 month prior to the actual event.

If you are not sure, and you need to clarify what category your event falls under, please contact Mary Ellen Truelove, Clerk 1-800-928-2250 Ext 293 or email mtruelove@twprideaulakes.on.ca.

But there is a still lot of work to do to keep children, and ourselves safe. Plan to take part in Parachute's Safe Kids Week, happening May 30 - June 5, 2016 with a focus on the top injury issues that affect children on the road, at home and at play. For more information visit: parachutecanada.org/safekidsweek

Over the last 30 plus years at this location the Lombardy Fair has grown and expanded to act as a bench mark for other fairs in Ontario. The Lombardy Fair has set high standards for itself and will continue to provide country hospitality, entertainment and agricultural education, for the whole family, whether they have rural or urban roots. At the Fair enjoy Produce, Home Craft, Local School, and Handcraft displays. Take in the Agricultural Showcase. For the western horse enthusiast, there are Ranch Competitions (Sat) and Extreme Cowboy Races (Sun.). Simply charming is the Junior Fair Ambassador Contest Show (Fri.) and Baby Show (Sun.).

For lots of excitement, we offer Pig Scrambles, Kids Tractor Pulls, as well as lots of exciting events and exhibits in the Livestock Pavilion. Take in the beloved Demolition Derby on Friday evening; Antique Tractor, Farm Stock and Lawn & Garden Tractor Pull and Modified Class on Saturday afternoon; 4x4 Truck Pulls and Modified Class (open to all local pullers) on Sunday afternoon. The ever-popular Annual 4-H Horse Show & Brush up on Your Skills Day; 4-H Club Dairy Achievement Day and the Horse and Pony Pull rounds off the four day fair.

Like it a little quieter? Sit and enjoy yourself in our beautiful tree-shaded park complete with picnic tables where you can enjoy on-going entertainment of a wide variety on the park stage every afternoon. Top entertainment will be featured on Saturday.

As the Lombardy Agricultural Society is celebrating its 150th anniversary, our volunteers are very busy creating some extra special events to help us celebrate. Check out our website and FaceBook page for updates
