The Administration Department is responsible for implementing Municipal and Provincial Legislation and has such general control and management of the administration of the Government and affairs of the Municipal Corporation and performs such duties as the Council by By-Law prescribes.
Community and Leisure Services
The department of Community and Leisure Services provides residents and
visitors the opportunity to enjoy recreational, leisure time activities in
many different locations within the Township in a safe, friendly and healthy
environment. An enhanced quality of life, healthy living, active lifestyles
and opportunities for all ages and abilities is the goal of this department.
Your manager of Community and Leisure Services works with 100s of
volunteers in recreation, beautification and hall board committees.
Numerous recreation programs, local
special events (winter carnivals, summer parades, BBQ's, games and sporting
events) are all supported by your Community and Leisure Services Department.
Open waterfront, passive parks, trails, ice rinks, ball diamonds, soccer
pitches, basketball courts, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, community
halls and playgrounds are found throughout the Township for everyone to
The Development Services Department (Planning/Building/Septic) is responsible for dealing with all applications under the Planning Act and the Ontario Building Code as well as providing current and long term planning services. The Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with Official Plans, Zoning By-laws, other Municipal By-laws, and the Ontario Building Code. The Development Services Department is comprised of a Planner, Associate Planner, Chief Building Official, Building Inspector, Septic Inspector and Secretary.
The Public Works Department is responsible for the development of Township Roads in regards to plans, priorities, concerns, complaints and budget of roads. This Department is also responsible for municipal properties,
environmental services, streetlighting and municipal drains.
The Treasury Department is responsible for the development and implementation of procedures to ensure that all accounting and financial management issues are addressed and dealt with in accordance with legislative requirements and the Township budget. The Treasury Department performs all property tax collection functions and ensures the payment of invoices pursuant to Township policy.
The Township of Rideau Lakes provides the following emergency services to its residents:

Department with four fire stations located within the Township. For

Policing services to the township are contracted to the Ontario
